Are we living life or giving our lives away to the idea that knowledge in everything has greater weight? This is the oldest trick in the book. “You won’t surely die but will be like god’s with your eyes opened to what is good and evil.” The enemy sold this idea to Eve and the fall started and it seems like this world thrives on this idea – know more and have greater power over others who do not know as much (or just get in never ending arguments on who knows what and who is right).
I barely get on any kind of media sites anymore but the other day someone posted on linkedin about some tips for authors from C.S Lewis and while he is an author I rather enjoy, I looked at it. One of the first things stated was, “turn off the radio – stay away from news”. Headlines are catchy on purpose, they tug at your fear strings and create a spiral in your head where you are more concerned on what was said than real life. They are in fact like fishing lines with a juicy title as the bait hooking everyone to the screens instead of living life. The baited lines become the program of the lives of those giving their lives up to know something that ultimately doesn’t matter.
Yes, I heard it before. “It is good to be aware but not get sucked in.” While I appreciate this view and think it is great if that is possible, the truth is that even those that think they have the ability to stay outside of the hook and only be “aware” in order to make a more sound judgement on their atmosphere are still allowing some element to taint their views and this statement is a honestly the ego on defense trying to prove that they have it under control. Sounds a bit like an addict huh?
While I might know who the president is, I don’t think it important to know what he does, has done or is going to do in his personal life. I might be some what aware of some entertainment stuff, I could care less about how many times they have been married or what they said to someone. I started to realize in my time of separating from all that most people call “normal” that everything, EVERYTHING, is a distraction and very few actually have a hold of it as they think. What is it is a distraction from? God, Christ, the word and how our souls really are or rather whose they are. I remember speaking with a brother about this when he asked me, “Yo! Did you hear what happened?”, as he started to tell me about the attempted massacre of Trump and my response was, “It is all a show. We don’t really know what is all going on and all of it is a distraction to hook us on someone else instead of God.”. His response, “Wow, you got me and live so differently. You really have given me something to think about now.”
Now, I will tell you that one thing that I did through the twenty twenty madness is I went through the rabbit holes of soooo much. I honestly looked at so much that I wasn’t able to sleep. I knew the world was wicked but to know some of these stories or just simply pollute my mind with a supposed knowing was beyond what I could handle. While I have appreciated knowing of some things to strengthen my ability to discern some potentials in regards of safety as a mom, I will continue to state that I do not believe that we were built to know everything. While there are definitely some great connections with the internet in being able to have friends from all over the world, there is also a lot of danger in putting so much out to be absorbed within our being.
One of God’s greatest desires is to walk with His children in and through life. This isn’t just my belief and personal revelation (while it is indeed that), this is an obvious theme through the Bible. God loves you so very, very much – more than you can ever comprehend. God wants you to want Him to show you the truths of life, to have your focused attention and to come to Him for the answers, love and guidance for how to live the life that He established.
In closing, I want to just ask you to tune in to your own inner radar as you pay attention to posts, headlines and assumed “news”. Take a breath and check in to acknowledge if it makes you feel alive or drained of life? Do you feel like you something to live for or do you feel like you are just doing the “norm”? Then take it further… who actually said that this is the way we are supposed to live?
It is written, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” [John 10:10] You are worth the life that you were given to live and the life that was given up so that you would know life (fully).
