This post could be very provoking causing some ruffles but I feel it an important, no necessary message that I continually feel impressed in me.
Here is the thing, while I have not been everywhere, I have been in a lot of different areas internationally. I have been to many churches and even more homes along through the journeying and have become acutely aware of a lot of things while being more disciplined in my self – ever feeling, observing and holding space through the various temperature, expressions and views. We live in a time where even saying that you eat a certain way can get you cancelled from someone’s regular communications… it has become the cultural norm to state and stand by something just because it is the way of self, the way that you have chosen and if anyone does not agree with you then well they just aren’t “in alignment” and must be wrong or even to the extreme of saying that the other must be working with the evil one instead.
There are many decisions in life that create sides from one another in this world and unfortunately it is even highly felt among the believers of Christ. There is this line that I feel through everything that is believers on one side and non-believers but then there is even the lines that are not always so obvious unless you are in it – Catholic or Protestant, Baptist or Methodist, communal or singular, tongues or not, hebrew vs english… the list can go on and on honestly, it is really a lot be in.
Here is what I say when people ask me what my religion is, “I follow Christ, I read the Bible.” From what I can tell there is indeed a great separation from God and His children and the battles of denominations do not create the unity that He speaks of when it is written, “until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God…” From what I can see it does not say, “until we come to unity as a ….. fill in the blank with the separate view….” No, it says in unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God (Christ). For as it is also written as He proclaimed, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” This was pre denominations and organizations, He said that HE is THE WAY and yet He still referred to the church as the body (the bridegroom), “And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?” and it is further illustrated as, “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her” and “Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.”
Furthermore, it is written that “But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” From what I can see, this saying one way is the “right” way other than the way of our Living Hope in Christ alone is in itself just another subtle slippery tactic of the enemy – get everyone pointing fingers at one another and talking poorly against brother and sister further diverting from the true path.
Here is the truth and what I will continue to stand on: there is one true God – He is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, the best way to connect with our Father is through the knowing of the son – Jesus Christ, and we are not able to do that until we accept Him and are baptised with and led by His Holy Spirit. There is a lot where the need for knowledge has pulled away from truth and His wisdom but if we ask for discernment then it will be given. I have been in various circumstances where I have been able to feel the very real presence of the Holy Spirit, other times when it just felt like a system and worse is when the platform is used for a personal agenda but, the presence of the Holy Spirit does not lie, He cannot. Through the many times I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit somewhere it was never at one specific way only and I have been in almost every kind of denomination, worship services, places of prayer and with testimonies of all kinds.
So, this is what I want to finish with. Take a prayerful moment and ask Him for discernment before jumping in and saying that someone is wrong for their connection with Christ, maybe go visit a different church and see what you feel and how He wants to show up for you, and mostly… just read His words. He is worthy and deserves the full recognition of all He has done and is for us. (if you can appreciate my writing and feel encouraged to support it in any way, you can do so here.) Thank you for your time and part in His great creation.
