This isn’t just a post about how you might overdo the limits of your muscles, all of a sudden find that you have more stretchy pants in your outfit rotation and find yourself obsessed with how you look in poses with several in your camera roll ready to share and receive a dose of dopamine for “likes” on social media…
This post is a real warning and after receiving the very clear direction from our Father, it is my duty to get this out. Now, don’t stop there because the reason why this is one of my duties and why I am able to call it as it is with that introduction of the post is because… I was totally in it – I was a certified yoga teacher at one point, I got caught up in it all as a participant and paid teacher. While I did shift my teaching and focus to more therapeutic practices and body awareness, I had to break the yoke and open my eyes to see things more clearly.
Let’s start with some definition and awareness. The word yoga comes from the hindu traditions and means to yoke and they use yoga as a way to yoke the body, mind and spirit through poses, breath work and meditation. Now, moving, strengthening and stretching the body are all good, breath work is good and meditation is good…. HOWEVER, when done as a hindu tradition there is a layer that no one looks at and most don’t even realize. This tradition has been sold as a fad to establish a good physique and mindset and yet very few actually look at where it came from and what it’s real intentions are. There was a time in my practice when a lot of fellow teachers where starting to train with a new method and as I looked in to where it originated and what a for real terrible person created this modality I opted out of any participation. When we participate in anything, we are saying that it is okay and are supporting who created it and or where it started which includes willingly allowing the method to take part in your life as well.
Okay so let’s get to it. This tradition of movements, breathing and meditating all focus around connecting with certain deities in the hindu ways. These entities are not God and have no interest in saving you or even helping you. I am sure all of you have seen a person go on a rage and then say something like, “I need to get to yoga.” Isn’t that strange? Why would they all of a sudden feel they need to use that as an excuse and then to quickly get to a practice of such? Our bodies are filled with all sorts of energetic pathways, yes and when given over to the spirit realm in any manner your body becomes a vessel of sorts for who knows what. I have mentioned it before but the spirit realm is for real, it is huge and it is not to be taken lightly, I am speaking from years of experience and even working with. But, let me focus on the topic more than my own understandings as this is important for any and every body who does yoga or wants to.
As you breath and move with these poses you activate parts of you to be connected with these entities that are in the spirit realm. Here is the kicker. The entities that some think they are working with are not actually that – yeah mind warping I know. Even if you meditate and focus on certain mantras you are connecting yourself to an entity and giving them opportunity to work with you. Then there is even mudras and hand holdings that establish openings for these entities. Here is one way to think about it. Sometimes we dress a certain way to get attention of some kind, may not be the best attention ultimately but there is attention received. This in itself is an invitation to be seen a certain way. These poses, breathings and meditations are invitations and the more you participate the more you open your body, mind and spirit to be yoked indeed but yoked to a vast variety of things that don’t really care about your wellbeing even though you think you are doing this for your wellbeing.
So, some of you might be nodding your head and wondering, ‘Okay so what can I do?’. Here is my suggestion. If you like the idea of being lean, strong and having good mobility I would look into pilates or eldoa which are functional movements that are actually physiologically based an have absolutely no attachments to spiritual entities. Want help with breathing? Start the day with some good yahweh breathing, this is the glorious name of our Father and creator and it is HE who gives us breath therefor is most deserving of our breath work. Wanting some help with renewing your mind and finding peace? Meditation is good but meditate on words that are proven to give life – the Word. (Send me a message and I will share some verses with you to work with)
We were indeed made to move, breath, be mindful and well – it is so important that all these other ways have been established to detour you from the greatest connection ever. You do no need to be connected to many spirits and things. You just need the one true God – the maker of heaven and earth (and you!). He loves you so much and wants you to turn to Him instead of all these false gods and things. You will only find worth by being in the form that He has made you for. And honestly, from all the ways I built myself up through yoga is so minimal compared to the level of confidence I have now, and I don’t need to make pictures of poses to see how wonderfully made I am.
Please please please turn away from these things that harm your soul and seek the only one that knows you best. “And you shall the love the Lord your God with all your heart, and all your soul and all your might.” He loves you so very much and wants you to want to do life with Him more.
