Don’t minimize your small thing

Do you know the power of the small? I personally love doing small things but I feel like a lot of people either don’t or have stopped because they feel like ‘eh, what’s the point?’. I was reminded over the weekend and even given a great visual with a domino effect about how the tiniest of actions make moves that are greater than you may ever know or even be able to fully comprehend.

This domino effect visual and even this topic reinvigorated me and brings me to the importance of sharing it in my own way as well. So, I am a person that loves picking up trash, putting away the shopping carts left in the parking lots, telling someone that they look nice today or that their smile was good, we pray for emergency responders when we hear sirens and I pray for those I see hurting whether they realize it or not. But! Even I have gotten to points where I was asking God, “Am I good enough?”. I know that most people do not see things I do but that God sees and knows all and yet as life is well… life and a cycle doesn’t seem to be changing, I too have gotten to those points of asking if there is any impact for Him.

I love how just as we are in the slumps about something God places the message and meets you where you are, filling the space with His awesome presence and delivering the comfort in letting you know that you are seen, known, doing well and yes there is great impact.

So as a lot of us need images or to be able to see signs or cause and effects there was an added video of the domino effect. This domino stack started with a tiny domino that was about the size of a grain of rice and each domino that followed it was twice the size of the one before. It was even added that if there were 29 of these dominos and the ratio set up that the 29th one would be the size of the empire state building! From a grain of rice to the empire state building is quite an effect, right? So, yes. Your smile matters. The trash you pick up matters. The prayer matters.

God actually loves the little things, so much that He talks about the mustard seed, the tiniest of seeds, and how great it is for faith and the Kingdom of God. God loves working through you in all the little ways to create greater. He loves you making a small compliment or giving a little gift that seems like nothing to you but He uses it for glory and brings someone else closer to Him because of what you think is small. You truly never know how much impact you have on someones life… but God does and He loves your contributions in His creation.

While the “holidays” are around the corner a lot of people focus on the big but there is something so great about having worth in the little because it is about who we are for and being His light. Every bit is worth it and so are you.

So next time you feel something stir inside of you to make that little compliment, pick up that mess or whatever and then there is an immediate ‘nah… you don’t need to…’ squash the negative and do it anyway. You are being seen and that little inspiration is Him asking you to participate with and for Him. He loves you, loves watching you and walking with you. May I pray for you?
