“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Let’s take this simple verse and break it down to even deeper meaning… Indeed by definition means without a question and Deed by definition is a written instrument by which a person transfers ownership of real property to another. Do you feel that door unlock with this connection?
So IF the Son… this is both a form of grace being shown and also a big if because it is also contingent on our willingness to not only see and accept Jesus as the Christ but to bring Him into our lives and keep Him as the bullseye of our lives. While there is not an emphasis on this in the scripture it is definitely a note worth acknowledging as there are plenty who have seen Christ as the King but just barely seeking Him – choosing a lukewarm relationship than the on fire praising, seeking and knowing that you are nothing without His love and grace kind of relationship.
“So if the Son sets you free, then you are free indeed.” I can tell you that there is a very real feeling that takes place when we actually say, “Yes, Lord! Take my sins and death and set me free…” I have seen and felt how He has saved me from my sins, from this world and from my own self. There truly is no greater feeling than knowing that He took everything that is wrong and upside down in this world to the cross so that we might know real love through Him and He who sent Him. Taking everything to the cross was literally a transfer of possession from us to Him, taking it not only to the cross but also overcoming the death of His own death and ours in order to rise! Woo Hoo! Do you feel that?!?
And it gets better! He didn’t just rise from the dead in complete form, He rose and walked among the land presenting Himself as the Messiah to all who saw Him. But, he still carried the imprints of the wounds for all those that needed to see just how Worthy He is as our ultimate King.
I would like to close with inviting you to take a moment to pray and visualize yourself handing over every thought, action and behavior that you know is not adding life to you and anyone around you, to the cross and the King. Just nail it to the cross and maybe even declare, “I take this and that and I transfer it from me to the cross and accept the indeed freedom that has promised by His suffering.”
Oh how He loves you.
