Lately my child and I have been having what I like to call love battles because we will spend an entire forty minute walk going back and forth about how much we love each other. It is both fun, funny and endearing because some times the things are just ridiculous to say but apparently still worthy to express. “I love you more than trash!” “Well yeah! I would hope you would love me more than trash!” haha I love being a kid again as a mom.
While we pretty much cover everything from colors to rocks and cars to flowers… We even love each other more than chocolate and my daily coffee. One thing that we know more than how much we love each other though is our God. We know and talk about daily how important it is to know that God gives us everything (literally all the time giving thanks for everything knowing it is all in His doing) and that He deserves our full adoration. “For you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might.” This in itself is one of the greatest and most important commands through the old and new testaments.
So I now want to ask you two very important questions. First, when was the last time that you told someone how much you truly love them? Second but more important, are you able to love God more than anything and with everything that you are?
