Just another post about how things of this world have been distorted and accepted without deliberate consideration.
I recently heard my son say, “Oh my gosh…” and I stopped and said where did you hear that from because I knew that I was more deliberate with saying, “Oh my goodness.” We talked about it and made sure to say Oh my goodness and then it happened… we both caught mama saying, gosh instead of goodness in a time of frustration. Immediately, he pointed it out to me and we agreed that mom would be better and we would be sure to say goodness instead.
Why is this important you might be asking…
The Lord has said that we shall not say His name in vain and gosh is just too close to god and I want us to be intent and aware of all the ways we say things, especially as my child picks up on and says so many things now. Goodness, as we talk about, is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit and there is no law against goodness. Goodness should not only be lived and shared but talked about and spoken often. Goodness is… goodness 🙂
What is funny is that now that we have made the very deliberate act of making sure that we do not speak in such a way, my child has now taken it upon himself to correct everyone else around us that says gosh without any thought. However, as soon as we talk about it with others on why they are being corrected they all agree and appreciate it being brought to their attention.
Are you aware of the power of your words and are you speaking life?
