Check, Tick, Done and Done

How many things a day are in your mind or in actual list form that you either want to do, get or have done?

I have recently been given the opportunity for a quieter space and have taken it as the greatest blessing to be able to take more time with God. To quiet myself as well as appreciate the quiet environment and to invite Him in to every space of life. Through various studies and connections I have been introduced to a various ways of praying and connecting. I trust that as I am on this journey with and for God, that whatever is brought to me is something to at least be aware of. But, lately I feel Him call me back to even more simplicity.

At one point I had to just stop all the extra noises of other people’s insights and directions, while Christ focused, there is something to be said about water logging. As I took in that guidance, I started just ignoring notifications but then more importantly asking Holy Spirit to guide me on if something was needed to be added in to my mind and doings. What I found is that there is something to cherish about the winter garden time, and I was not only wanting this intuitively but was given this right in alignment as the freeze swept over most of the country.

This morning I got the opportunity to be awake with some time with God on my own. I heard Him mention a check list as it tied in to something I was talking with a fellow sister about yesterday as well. But, this was deeper with a longing… While there is a lot of separation in the church body (church body being every bit of all the believers), there is also a variation of “doing the motions” that is not anything more than a to do list – the heart has been disconnected. Per usual this is a theme that He has wanted me to be present with, even last week He brought my attention to read, feel and sit with Romans 12:1. “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and Holy sacrifice – the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.” (emphasis added by me)

So, while I connected with Him in the quiet of the morning I was also given a beautiful sentiment with a small image of how our Father walked in the garden with Adam and Eve. He wants to be let in our lives with love and connection not a monotone checklist for part of the day that He has granted. I was brought in to further relating as I continued to read Genesis and it says, “He went down to see what they were doing…” So often we, as humans in this fallen and sinful world we allow this idea that God is something less than when He is altogether more otherly and greater than anything. He sees all, knows all and is with all. He is not just this big guy up in heaven that has no involvement or feeling of what is going on in the whole of all His creation. He is our Father, THE creator and He wants to walk with us through life. He wants to feel our sincerity in Him. He wants us to let Him in so that He can show us the plan – it is so so so much greater than we can possible make up or do on our own.

I think I touched on this a little in a previous post about how He doesn’t want the sacrifices and rituals… He wants us! You see pagans and witches create rituals and due to the sinful nature of the world that fell, there was a point when the rituals were needed only to get people’s focus and action towards Him because the idolatry and wickedness took over. He meets us where we are and then He gifted us the greatest gift of all. He gave us Christ. Clearing away the rituals and sacrifices with a one and done ultimate sacrifice for sins. Christ is the way to reconnect and walk with our Father because it is through Him that we see how to live for Him. It is also written that if there is not real love involved then it is just a bunch of noise.

While I know there are some forms of prayers and appreciations that are regular practices – like before eating for a small instance. But, when it comes to having the real relationship with Him it is about us inviting Him in and actually connecting with Him. He is So Much More than anything we can comprehend. Isn’t He worth more than a checklist?
