Treasure Chest

Everyone loves a good treasure, right? Even my child has a little bag that he has started collecting items as little treasures – some of them are actually pretty legit treasures to hold on to, especially now that pennies have stopped being made. If you have done any reading of the New Testament you will also find that treasure is referenced often as well. It seems that all can relate to a time when something was treasured most and as time carried on it was either converted to another treasure or let go.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21

Have you ever noticed that you can usually notice where someone’s priorities are by the “treasures” that they have. I am not saying that having a nice house, cars and quality clothes is bad but we live in a time when material items are more easy to be seen as treasures than in the past. But, there is something to be noted on how and why Christ shares about treasures. I would like for this to be a point where you are called to read one of the verses that speak on treasure and connect with it for yourself.

Personally for me. I have found myself treasuring God, His ways and His great trust in me as His. When I was pregnant I knew that my child was a treasure from God but something changes in those quiet moments when you are able to just look at yourself, your child and then just be in complete awe of God. So full of appreciation, so full of love and honestly a bit of disbelief in who I have become and what is. I have very little actual stuff at the moment but what I have found is that my heart seems to keep growing and there are these moments when I feel my hear beat gather and fill my chest more. While the world encourages the “show me” status, God wants connection with Him to be treasured more so that He can show you the treasures He sees you as and has for you – after all treasure is no good if it is not appreciated and it cannot even be found if there is not any intention or attention available.

What is the item that you treasured as a child and what is it now? Where is God in any of that? You are a worthy treasure to Him and He wants you to be part of His glorious Kingdom. What does your heart desire?
