Those of us that are still very much in the world, minds went straight to the words of flesh… however, as you awaken these words and actions that your mind went to become distasteful and you start to realize just how vulgar and corrupt they truly are. But, for those of us who are taking deliberate thoughts and steps to be in line with our Maker might see this O as a completely different word start.
You see as we are in the world we are self serving and filled with desires that bring death and destruction to the body and others all while feeding the ultimate agenda of the enemy – disconnecting your spirit from the spirit of God. This letter for this big and necessary word is one that makes those of the world cringe because they have come to believe that it is their way or the highway and will refuse to abide by any other terms believing that they will make it work some way or another. I come into this post knowing all this very personally as well, so this is by no means a matter of condemnation but helpful awakening.
We are not our own. I know that the world and the enemy have done a wonderful job shifting this truth into making many think that life is a series of “I do what I want (finger snaps and all)” but, that is not the Truth and not at all life giving. Again, I know this personally and will share that all that cycle gives is lacking because you continually want more and are not satisfied fully then there comes a point when you realize that nothing is actually satisfying and the only thing that makes sense is death. This is because to serve self and flesh brings about decay to the spirit making it impossible to live the life that was breathed into us in order to be alive. God doesn’t make mistakes, He knows you and formed you for His great and awesome views of all His creation; and the enemy hates that, literally despises you and your life and wants nothing more than to take you away from The Father, and it’s nothing personal to you really but a personal attack at God. We are God’s handiwork and made for a purpose and to live in that purpose.
Soooo… what is this O?!?
Obedience. The flesh will literally start to run away from this but the spirit longs for it. We are alive because of His Spirit that He placed in us and it is that spirit that desperately tries to get your attention to get back on track but most are too busy occupying their time and spaces to even notice a divine call. Trusting and obeying is one of the greatest actions of Love one can do, show and ultimately be. Let’s start small: if you love your friend and they say, “Hey please keep this a safe place between us.”, and they share something personally with you – if you truly loved and respected them then you would hold that with you, but if you didn’t value them in the way that they obviously valued you then you might go and share it with others thinking that you now have some “juicy deets”. When you are in an intimate relationship and decide to share your bodies together you hope that the love is real and that it was shared only between you two, but if you were deceived then it might have been exposed to others in a form of receiving high fives and way to go’s. As a parent an obedient child is not only loving but also safe as long as the parent is holding safe parameters for them and allows them to know how loved they are in those expectations. Now, that we can see it from a human perspective… doesn’t just make sense that we would want to be so with our Creator?
Here is yet another way that this has gotten twisted. Most might think that obedience is a form of release and allowing others to have control, and yeesss but also no. When you look at humanly, for sure because humans have great wounds that need to be healed with The Father, but when you look at in terms of the One who literally made you for His glory you only open up to more awesome. It is not easy to see until you are actually in it and operating from it but here is a way that I know how to explain it from a worldly perspective. You might have heard of the flow state, yeah? It is a state being when things just flow and is commonly related to athletes when they are “in the zone” – it’s like somehow that jump, run or rail was just something that just happened and you were not the one doing it but participating with some kind of flow that was beyond human understanding. This, my friend, is exactly and so much more that beautiful life that will flow when we actually surrender, trust and obey in the One that knows us better than we know ourselves.
Obedience is the best big O ever and when you start awaken properly to seeing a greater way of living it will make greater sense. The other o’s are nothing in comparison to how life can open up for you when you begin to submit beyond your own understanding. It sounds daunting and I won’t sugar coat it and say that it is easy at all but it is worth it. It takes time. The world and the enemy have built up quite a lot of programs within your body and mind that are not at all in line with the life you were given for but/and (!) our Lord will meet you at each new level that you are ready for and help you as you ask Him for help… you just have to want it, invite Him and allow the process. You might have heard the phrase, “if it’s worth it then it won’t be easy and if it’s easy then it’s not worth it” (?) – yes, it might be tough to put the flesh in it’s place at first but, then it actually does become easy and then it becomes something that you only want to do.
