Hi all! I have been steady working of several things all at once and my mind has been flowing with lots of topics and have started doing some motivational Word talks and a podcast… the blog is still happening just finding a new groove with and through all.

I got an opportunity to go to an event a couple of weeks ago that was filled with worship and testimonies from some professional ball players. It was really lovely and uplifting but something stuck with me to create a post about. I am so out of the loop of all things “pro” that I had no idea that I was actually talking with some of them before the talks and I could not tell you which speaker said this but I heard someone say, “When you shift perspective to see that things happen for you instead of to you…” I honestly don’t even remember what the rest of the sentence was – there were a lot of great things shared. Like one guy shared about how his parents made sure that he knew Christ and never put him in a box but always encouraged him, another shared about how he got swindled and caught up in some bad stuff and it was only Jesus that kept him moving forward and giving him purpose and then one shared about how his wife was the tether for him – all really good stuff and a truly encouraging event for all that were there, especially the youth that are interested in sports.

But the fragment of a sentence got me thinking about the mentality that is behind perspectives and how we interpret life. Even as I write this I am realizing that what I am about to share also coincides with other mindsets that I have recently been talking about and sharing in my first podcast episode.

To us. Often times we can think that everything is happening to us and while in some ways yes, it is not actually the fully picture and actually is keeping the focus and mindset in a victim mentality. This and this happened to me and… fill in the blanks as I am sure you have been in this before or heard others relay things in this way.

For us. Everything is an opportunity and when you see things as happening for you then you are allowing there to be growth.

Because of us. Yes, we have real impact and honestly each perspective offers a completely different layer of impact as well. When we give a compliment – you might have helped shift that person’s day. When we judge – we show our own heart and character and while hurting someone else also allow there to be more darkness within yourself. When we give – we trust that we have the ability to not only help but also that we too will be helped.

Life truly is a series of choices and thankfully we have been given the most awesome role model to look to and adjust from the ways we have been, (victim and or survivor, etc.) to the ways that are actually participating with and in God’s Kingdom. Let us all take that small pause to check and see what pattern we are allowing to continue in what we think and say, after all we will always reap what we sow. So… wouldn’t it be super if we all chose to see things being in God’s Will? An opportunity to be greater than yesterday and having the ability to make an impact for the greater good. You must know that you are important and worth every bit of effort that was put into making you and every dream that there is of you in being part of God’s image. Let’s go!
